The contrasting materials of the molded plywood seat shell and the elegant black plastic frame are the unmistakable feature of the Belleville Armchair. Its elegant armrests are an integral part of the curved structural frame and offer excellent comfort. The Belleville Armchair is also available with plastic seat shell or upholstered in leather or fabric.
Belleville is the name of a lively neighborhood of Paris where the
study by designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
The visual references of the Belleville Chair can be found in the classic furniture of French restaurants and in the cheerful atmosphere of this Parisian corner.
The familiar shape of the chair -even in a contemporary context- could be taken for granted at the beginning, but it also brings a sense of mystery and perplexity since the material, structure and manufacture of the chair can only be seen when observed with detain
The Belleville Chair is a technically sophisticated plastic chair that consists of two components: a structural frame and a seat shell.
Tracing the calligraphic lines of the legs and the backrest, the thin black frame supports a fine structure that transforms from a wide surface of the seat into a narrow backrest.
This type of structure opens new perspectives for the materiality of the chair, since the surface of the seat shell is the characteristic that gives it the identity of the Belleville Chair: available in colored polypropylene, molded wood veneer or with a leather or fabric cover, the perception of the Belleville Chair transforms from a plastic chair into a wooden chair and into a chair
upholstered: and even in an armchair inclined forward.
Matching the Belleville Tables, the Belleville Chair and the Belleville Armchair create a unified yet diverse group: a hybrid family of furniture whose shapes and materials harmoniously coordinate. Thus, chairs and tables, in smaller or greater numbers, can be combined attractively in restaurants or in modern galleries and homes with style.
The Belleville Chair and Armchair with plastic housing are also suitable for outdoor use.
