SAK (Soñando a Kuramata – Dreaming of Kuramata) is the result of a design exercise between three Mexican designers and two Finnish carpenters. Using Shiro Kuramata's 1972 design as a guideline, the bookshelf is assembled with 12 identical pieces, without any hardware or glue.

Shiro Kuramata's design, 64 book shelves, starts with one small square shelf on one corner and finishes with a big square shelf on the opposite, creating a grid that grows on two axes. The designer's three basic design guidelines were to take that growth to the third dimension – i.e., the depth of the shelf, to assemble the whole bookshelf with the repetition of a single piece, and to avoid the use of glue or hardware during assembly.
