1987 Lives in London. Makes Pod of Drawers from materials stolen from the model making workshop where he works part-time.
1988 Designs Embryo Chair and Andoni fashion store back in Sydney.
1989 Moves to Tokyo to work for Teruo Kurosaki's company, Idée, which produces Super Guppy Lamp (1987), Black Hole Table (1988), and Wicker Chair and Lounge (1990). Kurosaki exhibits Newson's work in Milan.
1992 Opens studio in Paris rag trade district. Cappellini puts old pieces, including Orgone Lounge and Felt Chair (1989), into production.
Designs Skoda Boutique in Berlin, Hysterie Boutique in Frankfurt.
Designs Basala perfume bottle and packaging for Shiseido
1993 Is awarded "Designer of the Year" award at the Paris "Salon du meuble".
Designs Helice Lamp for Flos, and Gluon and TV Chairs for Moroso.
Produces limited edition pieces: Orgone Chair, Alufelt Chair, Orgone Stretch Lounge
Develops Seaslug watch for Ikepod, a company co-founded with Oliver Ike.
1994 Designs Gello table for 3 Suisses
1995 Creates the Bucky, a sculptural installation for the Fondation Cartier in Paris
Coast restaurant opens in London with interior and furniture by Newson.
1996 Designs Syn recording studio, Tokyo. Komed restaurant opens in Cologne. Newson develops a retail concept for fashion designer, Walter Von Beirendonck.
1997 Moves to London. On going collaboration with Cappellini, Flos and Magis.
Produces mass-manufactured household objects for Alessi and Magis
Stages a retrospective exhibition at Villa Noailles in Hyères, France
1998 Launch of Bucky and Orgone Plastic chairs. Starts work on MN1 bicycle for Biomega. Interior design of a Falcon 900B jet.
1999 Spends most of the year in Turin developing the 021C concept car for Ford at Ghia carrozzeria. 021C unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show.
A book "Marc Newson" is published by Booth-Clibborn Editions, UK
2000 Designs range of hair appliances for Vidal Sassoon, and door handles, DH1, for Erreti.
2001 Receives Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum for DH1 door handles.
First major retrospective at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
Curates Conran Foundation Collection 2001 at the Design Museum, London
2002 Opens a second studio in Paris
